Solving math word problems develops logical thinking and the ability to model real situations. Unlike pure calculation exercises, word problems require reading, interpreting, planning and verifying — fundamental skills for everyday life.
Recommended routine: 15–20 minutes daily. Read the problem completely before starting. Underline the data and the question. Choose the operation, solve and verify that the answer makes sense (with units and in the context of the problem).
Identify who shares, what is shared and among how many. If the result is not exact, the "remainder" is part of the answer. Verify by multiplying.
Always calculate the percentage on the original value. The multiplicative factor is faster than calculating the percentage and adding/subtracting separately.
Draw the figure before calculating. Label the measurements. Check that units are consistent (don't mix cm with m in the same operation).
The V-D-T triangle helps remember the formulas: cover what you want to find and the triangle shows whether to multiply or divide the other two.
