Everything about 2026 holidays in Argentina
In 2026, Argentina has 16 national holidays established by Law 27.399, plus 3 non-working days for tourism decreed by Resolution 164/2025.
Types of holidays in Argentina
Fixed holidays: Always celebrated on the exact date, regardless of day of week. The most important: Christmas, New Year, May 25, July 9 and others.
Movable holidays: Can be moved to Monday when falling on Tuesday/Wednesday, and to Friday when falling Thursday. This creates long weekends to boost domestic tourism.
Non-working days for tourism (bridges): Days decreed by the Executive, not mandatory. If employee works, it's paid as regular day. In 2026: March 23, July 10 and December 7.
Long weekends in 2027
The combination of national holidays and tourist bridges creates at least 12 long weekends throughout the year. The main ones are:
• New Year: Friday 1, Saturday 2, Sunday 3 January
• Carnaval: Saturday 6, Sunday 7, Monday 8, Tuesday 9 February
• Easter: Friday 26, Saturday 27, Sunday 28 March
• Malvinas Day: Friday 2, Saturday 3, Sunday 4 April
• Independence Day: Friday 9, Saturday 10, Sunday 11 July
• San Martín: Saturday 14, Sunday 15, Monday 16 August
2026 winter vacations
Winter vacations in Argentina run between mid-July and early August. Exact dates vary by province, as each provincial Ministry sets its own school calendar.
